Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) today announced that Abu Dhabi International Airport (ADIA) saw a 15 per cent year on year increase in passenger traffic during the month of April, with a total of 996,000 passengers travelling through the Capital’s airport last month.
Last month also showed a significant rise in cargo volumes reaching 38,137 tonnes, a 13 per cent increase over the same month last year, mainly driven by the airlines’ new cargo aircrafts and destinations at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Harib Ghannam Al Hameli, Vice President Operations Abu Dhabi international Airport at ADAC commented: "The 15 per cent increase in passenger traffic this month gives Abu Dhabi International Airport a strong solid outlook for the year ahead. We expect this growth momentum to be maintained during the summer period, which will see over 900 flights depart Abu Dhabi each week." During April, London saw the highest growth from Abu Dhabi, recording a 33 per cent increase over last year due to the last year’s volcano ash impact, followed by Jeddah, Manila, Bangkok, and Doha.
