H.H. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and President of Zayed University inaugurated yesterday the first UAE Youth Conference, organized by Zayed University and AIESEC Organization, UAE branch, at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi.
The one-day-conference tackled the issues and aspirations of UAE youth, education and environment. The event also discussed business opportunities in the UAE and the mechanisms of enhancing youth role in opening new horizons for small and medium scale projects.
The event was intended to support the spirit of leadership in UAE students to be able to take the right decisions and discover their leading abilities as well as accessing students’ experience throughout the world.
H.H. Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Ali Bin Rashid Al Nauimi, CEO of Al Ihsan Charity Centre said: “Sustainability compass guides to all directions associated with human being and natural resources, it consists of variety of personal experiences that start with the dream through charity, environment, youth empowerment, social responsibility, and then communicating with the different cultures around the world”.
On his part, H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Maktoum bin Jomaa Al Maktoum, head of UAE Billiard and Snooker Association, said: "No community can develop and advance steadily and confidently towards the future without in depth and constructive dialogue between various classes and a thorough discussion between the base and the top, the leaders and the people, because conflict of ideas generates light."
"Agreement on difference is the basis of understanding and human communication, our youth today have the initiative, belief in God, in depth confidence of the political leadership which keens on human dignity, maintains his rights and take him to the heights. Today, we witness deep changes in the Arab World led by the youth who form not less than 65% of the Arab World." He also added.
Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim, Head of Zayed University said: "In Zayed University, our goal is to create a well educated generation of youth to be able to take the initiative at all levels. For this purpose, we constantly seek to involve youth in all local and international events that may enhance their abilities and refine their talents in this regard."
Dr. Al Jassim stressed the role played by the UAE youth in the sustainable development career adopted by the UAE. He said, "Our youth have potential and creative powers and strong will in order to advance the future of today youth and provide all possible capabilities and facilities for the future generation."
This event is a part of the events organized by Zayed University throughout the year to improve the abilities of students and enable them to participate in world youth events with a view to share information and experience and access the experience and achievements of youth in the whole world.
