The French Business Group Abu Dhabi (FBG), representing over 270 members from the business sector with interests in France and in Abu Dhabi, recently organized a conference with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (DED) regarding the vision developed for the Emirate.
Dr Ahmad Abu Al Ghaida, Economic Planning Advisor of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, and one of the main masterminds of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, was the event’s keynote speaker.
FBG’s President, Jean-Pierre Giraud, welcomes this opportunity to highlight Abu Dhabi development priorities, and to share with French companies, the development opportunities available in the Emirate. "The French companies, as global leaders in their fields, and as technology champions, can participate to the development of Abu Dhabi, and to the realization of the 2030 objectives. We want to encourage investment and development between the two countries." Diversification of the economy, employment of UAE nationals and development of leadership positions in key identified sectors, are some of the priorities of the Economic Vision 2030, which should lead to a multiplication by three of the Emirate GDP, and bring the capital city to 3.1 million inhabitants.
French companies and investors can play an important role in the Abu Dhabi development in areas such as renewable energy, aviation and aerospace, tourism, retail and luxury, pharmaceutical and biotech, amongst others.
During the conference, Denis Balussaud, Safran UAE Delegate and FBG Vice President, leader of this project, announced the creation of an Abu Dhabi 2030 commission, with sub-commissions in the different sectors of activities of interest to Abu Dhabi, to develop common opportunities with the Emirate public and private organizations involved in these domains.
Regular informations regarding investment and development opportunities in Abu Dhabi will be shared with the French foreign trade organizations, to contribute to raise the awareness in France regarding Abu Dhabi as a partner.
