Emirates Post Issues Special Stamps On GCC Summit Held In Abu Dhabi In December 2010

HH Abdullah Bin Zayed Receives Framed Stamps From Emirates Post Officials

 

Emirates Post presented framed stamps of the GCC Summit to HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs at his office, at a special presentation ceremony held in Abu Dhabi recently.

The stamps were issued to commemorate the 31st Summit of the GCC Supreme Council, which was held in December 2010 in Abu Dhabi. The stamps feature the images of the leaders of the six GCC countries.

The frame of stamps was presented to HH Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed by a delegation of Emirates Post Group, led by Mr. Fahad Al Hosani, Acting President of Emirates Post Group, in the presence of Sheikha Al Ameri, Head of Postal Museum Section, Emirates Post and Eman Al Khaja, Director of Marketing at Emirates Post.

HH Sheikh Abdullah expressed his appreciation of Emirates Post’s keenness to support different institutions as a federal organisation committed to highlighting the progress and historical achievements of the country.

Mr. Fahad Al Hosni said that the new commemorative stamps portray the images of GCC leaders. The stamps have been issued in denomination of 150 Fils, along with a first day cover of AED 10. “Issuing such stamps is one of the ways in which Emirates Post contributes to highlighting various key events besides demonstrating its commitment to promoting Arab culture.”

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, the 31st Session of the GCC Supreme Council was held in Abu Dhabi on 6th and 7th December, 2010, under the chairmanship of His Highness. The GCC leaders stressed the need for joint cooperation in all areas, including: the political, economic, social, military, security, cultural and media.

The summit made several recommendations. In the economic sphere, the Council stressed the need to implement a customs union and common GCC market, monetary union, comprehensive development, electricity links and railway project.

In the area of human being and environment, the Council stressed the importance of improving the quality of education, environment protection and the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and joint municipal work.

In the military sphere, the Council highlighted the Convention of the joint defense and military cooperation between the GCC countries. In the area of security cooperation, the Council vowed to fight against terrorism and maritime piracy. In the political sphere, the Council agreed on the need to adopt a common strategy on all global issues.

Finally, in the media field, the Council stressed on the draft of a joint strategy for the media work for the GCC countries for the next ten years.
