HE Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Director General of ADEC, observed the Enrichment Project for continuous Evaluation of English Language ’E Card’ presented by Mariam Bint Sultan Secondary School Students in Al Ain during a visit to the school. Mohammed Salem Al Dhahiri, Executive Director for School Operations, Salem Al Katheeri, Al Ain Regional Office Director, and Mariam Eissa Al Dhahiri, School principal, were present.
The project aims at developing English language skills, training the students on every day language use with confidence and raising their awareness in national heritage and local environment.
Mariam Eissa Al Dhahiri said that the project is considered one of the excellent educational initiatives launched by ADEC to enhance communication between students and school community. Teachers and partnership team participated in the project in which each student selected a project from the local community, heritage or any other project.
She stated that students selected varied projects related to falconry, UAE fashion and topics on foreign countries such as Japan and India that are related to traditions and tourism.
Moreover, she pointed out that students obtained information from learning resource centers, internet, and magazines with the help of their teachers. This, of course, trains students to develop research skills and self dependence.
She added that the project aims at teaching students to express themselves through presentation in English.
HE Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili observed students’ projects and listened to their presentations. He expressed his appreciation and admiration of students’ language skills and asked them to conduct more research on the local heritage and development in Abu Dhabi and UAE in general. He gave instructions to organize for them a visit to the Falconry Center and enroll students on summer training programs abroad.
