The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) has won three awards at the fifth GCC Regulators’ Summit.
The Summit named John Garret, the General Manager and Group Chief Compliance Officer at NBAD, the Most Recognised International Compliance Officer of the Year. It also recognised Columcille O’Donnell, the Head of Group Compliance at NBAD, the Compliance Officer of the Year. Moreover, NBAD was recognised for Effective Implementation of Compliance Training.
"I am grateful and humbled by this award," Garret said. "Robust and effective compliance is a core value at the National Bank of Abu Dhabi because we believe that this approach allows us to build trust with all our customers, shareholders, and stakeholders and makes us a stronger and more sustainable bank." The Summit praised NBAD for its strong compliance philosophy and for making it an integral part of NBAD’s approach in dealing with customers.
"Proper and effective compliance go a long way in meeting NBAD’s guiding values, which in part require us to value our stakeholders and to deal with others as we would like them to deal with us," Garrett said. "As a compliance professional, I am pleased that I work at a Bank that treats implementing national and international compliance regulations and standards with utmost importance." It was recognised that the NBAD Academy, the Bank’s dedicated training facility, has contributed successfully to the effective training of the NBAD staff in implementing compliance practices.
