Abu Dhabi Education Council hosts the inaugural World Robot Olympiad Arabia 2011 on the 4th of May in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). Talented school students from all over the Middle East and North Africa will have the opportunity to sharpen their creativity and innovative skills, to enhance the team work spirit and problem solving skills through their participation in the different robotic competitions in an Olympiad specifically designed for them.
Mr. Humaid Abdullah, Division Manager – Students Services, School Operations Sector, confirmed that this event reflects ADEC’s commitment to promoting Science and technology education as it helps broaden the students’ horizons and career potentials in the field of applied science and technology innovation.
He also stressed that such an event is corollary of the ADEC vision of involving the latest technological updates in the learning process which will benefit to all students in the Arab world, in addition the cross curricular aspect of robotics makes it a great way to apply what they’ve learned in science, math, geometry and computer programming. He added that ADEC is keen to broaden students’ culture and applied technology literacy in order to consolidate the efficiency of the learning experience and encourage students to embrace Science and engineering careers and become the future inventors.
Around 1000 students, forming a total of 350 teams from UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Egypt will participate representing their countries in the competition and have the chance to exhibit their innovations.
The WRO Arabia rules and regulations are in compliance with the WRO 2011 international competition.
