H.E. Mr. Alain Azouaou, Ambassador of France to UAE, accompanied by H.E. Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al-Khaily, Director General of Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), visited Al-Mawaheb Model School. Received by Mrs. Fatima Al Hosani, Acting School Principal, they witnessed the Open Day activities carried out by female students of the Advanced Math and Science Pilot Class, launched two years ago in association with the French Lycée Louis-le-Grand (Paris) and implemented in Al Mawaheb and Al Ittihad Model Schools.
The ambassador lauded ADEC’s initiatives aiming at developing the educational system and helping students acquire the necessary skills and capabilities that would enable them to contribute to the socio-economic development.
Mr. Azouaou said that the program is achieving significant progress over time since it helps students utilize their full potential and develop their performance.
“Launching the program was not an easy task. Thanks to ADEC support and efforts, the program is achieving its objectives,” Mr. Azouaou added.
Dr. Al Khaili said that the Pilot Class is one of the programs introduced by ADEC to help students develop observation skills, creative thinking, scientific skills and intelligence by improving student performance in Chemistry, Physics and Math. “The program also enhances students’ English skills and enables them to compete with their peers globally. This would help develop national scientists, researchers and thinkers,” Dr. Al Khaili added.
Dr. Al Khaili emphasized that ADEC supports all students enrolled in the program, helps them continue their higher education in the best universities in UAE and abroad, provides them with scholarships and supplies them with all necessary resources.
Dr. Al-Khaili and Mr. Azouaou visited the Math and Science labs and watched student carrying out some experiments.
High performing students in the two schools are selected to join the Advanced Math and Science Pilot Class. These students are tested in Math & Science subjects and interviewed for assessment of their personal skills. Qualified teachers have been recruited from France to teach Math and Science curricula in English to students starting from Grade 10 to Grade 12 using the latest technologies in order to help prepare them for participating in international assessments in the two subjects.
Located at the heart of Paris, the French Lycée Louis-le-Grand is one of the most prestigious schools in France, particularly with regard to achieving the highest learning outcomes in Math and Science. It has many graduates from all over the world, including scientists and researchers.
Al Mawahib Model School students have previously visited the reputable school where they were introduced to its world-class educational programs..
