In a first for the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, competitors today (Tuesday, April 5) gathered at the entrance of the magnificent Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara to set off on the second of day three’s two stages.
The 93 remaining competitors were flagged off by Mohammed Ben Sulayem, Vice-president of the FIA and president of the rally organisers, the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE, before heading 175km through the Ramlat Ar Rabbad desert. This followed the day’s earlier stage, which had seen the riders and drivers battle 173km of massive red dunes, south of the Liwa Oasis, before finishing at the gates of the luxury hotel.
