ALHOSN University, a leading Abu Dhabi-based institution dedicated to high-quality and value-based education, will be receiving high-ranking academic officials from across the Middle East who will be participating in the 31st conference of the Arab Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers (ARAB-ACRAO) which starts today (Monday, April 4, 2011) and runs until April 7, 2011 at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research in Abu Dhabi. The conference is being organised under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Among the academic officials attending today’s opening ceremonies are Abdul Rahim Sabouni, Vice Chancellor and CEO of ALHOSN University; H.E. Mousaed Abdul-Karim al-Dakhil, Secretary General of the Arab Association of Registrars & Admissions Officers in Arab Universities; Prof. Salwa Al Gharib, General Secretary of the Supreme Universities Council in Egypt; Dr. Hamad Bin Khalfan Bin Mohamed Al Harethi, Deputy Academic Programs Manager of the Sultanate of Oman’s Ministry of Higher Education; and Dr. Hamdi Sheibani, ALHOSN University Provost, and the current President of ARAB-ACRAO and chair of this year’s conference.

Taking place under the theme ‘Enrollment and Registration: Quality and Accreditation Standards,’ the 2011 ARAB-ACRAO conference gathers researchers from 30 Arab universities to discuss key issues, trends and practices impacting enrollment and registration across the Arab region.

“While the quality of education is crucial to the Arab World’s progress, there is a tendency to overlook underlying processes of the educational system. This year’s conference provides a vital platform for understanding and enhancing enrollment, registration and recognition mechanisms and their role in the efficiencies of higher-education institutions in the Arab World. The presence of some of the region’s top academic officials today lends credence and support to these processes and will hopefully lead to key innovations and reforms in the area,” said Prof. Salwa El Gharib, Secretary General, Supreme Council of Universities in Egypt.

ARAB-ACRAO is a professional, educational and volunteer non-profit organization committed to elevating acceptance and registration standards in the Arab region universities. The organization has been a vital component in facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experience on the region’s educational systems. Last year’s meeting was held in Lebanon under the theme ‘The Challenges of Admission and Registration under Technological Development.’

ALHOSN University offers 11 undergraduate and 7 graduate programs under the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Business, and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, all developed in collaboration with leading North American educational institutions and accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The university was founded by the Abu Dhabi Holding Company in 2005 and is named after the historic ALHOSN Palace in Abu Dhabi.
