The strongest WOMAD Abu Dhabi bill just got stronger. The three-day festival, organised by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, will present an extraordinary line up of artists from across the world at the Corniche in Abu Dhabi from 7-9 April 2011 and Al Jahili Fort in Al Ain from 7-8 April 2011.

Currently the only living musician to hold the ‘Order of Merit’, the highest honour that can be granted by the Jamaican government for achievement in the arts and sciences. This maker of Jamaican ska and reggae, Dr Jimmy Cliff will be proving just how good he is on the Corniche, Friday 8th April at WOMAD Abu Dhabi 2011.
Also joining this already formidable line up will be one of the most innovative groups in world music Afro Celt Sound System. On Al Jahili Fort in Al Ain Sain Zahoor the spiritual minstrels of Pakistan and some familiar faces return to Abu Dhabi in the shape of The Dhol Foundation.
Other artists confirmed at The Corniche are: Toumani Diabaté (Mali), AURELIO & The Garifuna Soul Band (Honduras), Omar Bashir (Hungary.Iraq), Terem Quartet (Russia). With workshops from Muntu Valdo(Cameroon) and Speed Caravan (Algeria/France) and Afro Celt Sound System (UK) and El Tanbura (Egypt) will be providing tantalisingly taste bud tingling food at Taste The World.
Other artists confirmed at Al Jahili Fort in Al Ain are: Khaira Arby (Mali), Khyam Allami & Andrea Piccioni (Iraq/UK/Italy), and Baaba Maal (Senegal) With a workshop session from Ripton Lindsay (Jamaica).
Prepare to be amazed, delighted, excited by the sights, smells and sounds at WOMAD Abu Dhabi 2011.
