International authors have showcased their professional experiences from the time they started writing at the third edition of Abu Dhabi University (ADU) Book Fair, held on the sideline of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.
Dubbed as ‘Fly in your imagination’, the book fair highlighted famous works of authors Sylvia Nasar, who wrote the book, “A Beautiful Mind”, which became an Oscar winning movie; Jostein Gaarder, who wrote “Sophie’s World”; Haifa Zangana, best for novel “Women on Journey: Between Baghdad and London; and Åsne Seierstad, author of “With Their Backs to the World” and “One Hundred and One Days”.
Aside from the book fair, which was held at the main entrance of ADU’s Khalifa City campus, a forum was conducted wherein the famous authors shared their backgrounds as well as their experiences in the UAE during their first visit.
“Abu Dhabi University contributes to the vision of Abu Dhabi to become a hub for culture and science. We pride ourselves on bringing international and renowned personalities in various fields to meet our students. We value the importance of reading and literature at ADU and encourage students to express themselves through literary works,” Dr. Nabil Ibrahim, Chancellor, ADU.
In addition, some students from business and engineering backgrounds showcased some of their works at the book fair. Free coupons for the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) were also distributed to the students.
The ADIBF presents the latest developments in the field of writing, publishing and translation. It also serves as a chance for the public to meet authors and publishers from other countries.
