As organisations increasingly move past a crisis mode caused mainly by unfavourable economic conditions across the globe, a new breed of leaders are needed to help take these organisations back onto the road of recovery and growth, according to James Graham, General Manager, Aim Events.
And, in order to examine the impending issues and core elements needed to produce such new breed of leaders who will bring about change and success in organisations, the first Abu Dhabi Leadership Forum is being presented by Abu Dhabi University (ADU), in partnership with Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“It is widely recognised that great leadership can contribute to up to 40% of an organisation’s success,” said Graham. “The need for effective leadership has become increasingly important now than ever before in order to provide organisations with the appropriate skill sets and guidance that would allow them to take advantage of new opportunities.”
Organised by Aim Events - the events management group of ADU – the two-day forum, which is scheduled for the 4th and 5th of April 2011 at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahar in Abu Dhabi, will have a line-up top leaders from successful organisations in the region tackling issues such as: unique sets of skills to anticipate changes in the economy; identifying and taking action on industrial opportunities; as well as other key leadership trends in the region.
As a platform that will help develop next generations of leaders who will drive the world’s economies in the coming years, some of the keynote speakers at the forum include: Mishal Kanoo, Deputy Chairman, The Kanoo Group; James Hogan, CEO, Etihad Airways; Osman Sultan, CEO, Du and Selim El Zyr, Co-Founder, President and CEO, Rotana Group.
“The Abu Dhabi Leadership Forum is organised around the core elements of world class leadership in organisations and governance. It serves as the venue for discussion from breakthrough approaches to the latest insights and strategies in management,” Graham added. “This event will bring leaders together to discuss the importance of innovative leadership during turbulent times, and explore what it takes to lead organisations to success in 2011.”
The other topics that are to be discussed at the forum are: how to create leaders in the UAE; seizing the opportunities during market turbulence; creative thinking for effective leadership in 2011; and establishing strategic partnerships between government and business leaders to solve the current challenges and achieve greater results.
There will also be panel discussions which will examine the key attributes necessary for leaders, market and key leadership trends and secrets to effective leadership for success among others.
In order to provide delegates with well rounded information and a hands-on grasp of concepts, the forum will hold a Leadership Masterclass on the second day which will focus on leading cross-generational teams, staff motivation and inspiration through great leadership, transformational leadership and essential future competencies for leaders.
The Abu Dhabi Leadership Forum is also supported by the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Young Arab Leaders and the Institute of Executive Development, a member of Abu Dhabi University Knowledge Group (ADUKG). For more information about the event, please visit www.leadership-abudhabi.com.
