Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, National Geographic Al Arabiya Magazine launched its first ever UAE Universities & Higher Colleges of Technology Tour today with an inauguration ceremony at Abu Dhabi Women’s Higher College of Technology in Khalifa City.

Abu Dhabi Women’s College is the first stop on the tour that will showcase an exclusive National Geographic photo exhibition at almost 26 universities and institutes across the Emirates.

H.H. Sheikh Nahyan inaugurated the tour today with a ceremony organised in conjunction with the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research, and attended by a number of ambassadors, university heads, and leading industry figures from the environment, energy and science fields.

The campaign aims to introduce students to the amazing world of science and the natural wonders that are documented in National Geographic’s award winning photography, while motivating them to be more aware of their environment.

Mohamed Al Hammadi, Editor in Chief of National Geographic Al Arabiya Magazine, said, “National Geographic Al Arabiya is committed to educating the UAE and the wider region on the importance of environmental awareness, and through this tour we hope to extend our important conservation message to new audiences.”

Al Hammadi continued, “The inaugural University & Higher Colleges of Technology Tour has been developed to inspire students, as well as the general public, to think differently about the world we live in and encourage them to take greater interest in science by providing them with a unique source of entertaining scientific and environmental knowledge.”

At each stop on the tour, National Geographic Al Arabiya Magazine will display its unique photo exhibition, as well as host a series of lectures and Q&A seminars with National Geographic Al Arabiya Editor, Mohamed Al Hammadi and a range of local industry leaders. Students are invited to view the exhibition and participate in the seminars free of charge.

There is also an opportunity for students to enter a special National Geographic Al Arabiya Magazine competition, and win a trip for two to a surprise destination. National Geographic Al Arabiya is also offering the students a special subscription rate for the magazine.

The National Geographic Al Arabiya UAE Universities & Higher Colleges of Technology Tour will travel across the UAE from March till the end of this year, visiting a selection of Universities and Institutes in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Umm Al Quwain, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Al Ain.
