Abu Dhabi Education Council in collaboration with Mubadala Aerospace launched today an internship program that will be hosted by Airbus Company in Toulouse, France. The program aims at providing engineering students with first-hand training in the aviation industry for a period of six months.
Mr. Salem Al Sayari Executive Director of Support Services at ADEC, said that this program helps achieve the goals of Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 to build a knowledge-based economy, through the provision of highly qualified staff in the aerospace industry being among the areas of priority. “The program is designed to train 50 engineering students for 24 weeks over the next five years in Airbus Company, France. It will help our students acquire world class skills & practical experience that will introduce them to the career opportunities available at the global aerospace job market”, she added.
Mr. Homaid Al Shemmari, Executive Director at Mubadala Aerospace said that our aim is to exploit our global partnerships for training and developing our human capital to work in the aerospace industry. “We ensure that the international expertise of our partners is accessible to our young nationals to ensure faster knowledge sharing and expertise transfer. We have realized the need to establish a solid foundation to develop and qualify Emirati students in the field of aeronautical engineering, the introduction of this program in partnership with ADEC is one of our steps towards that”, he added.
ADEC has organized an orientation session to the students who will join the internship program this year. The program will be held during the period 27 February -31 July, 2011. Dr. Lee London from Airbus-France gave a detailed presentation on the internship program, briefed the students of the program and responded to their inquiries & questions. Dr. London said that Airbus has a strategic relationship with Mubadala, through which we aim to transfer our knowledge and train UAE’s national workforce.
