Environment Agency Abu-Dhabi signs MoU with ZonesCorp

The Environment Agency Abu-Dhabi (EAD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones (ZonesCorp) to encourage new investors and help industrial sector compete better at the national and international level, leveraging on the economic, financial and political strengths of Abu Dhabi.

It will also create an industrial environment conducive to sustainable development.

The MoU was signed by Razan Al Mubarak, Assistant Secretary General, EAD and Mohammed Hassan Al Qamzi, Chief Executive Officer, ZonesCorp at EAD Headquarters.

"We anticipate that this agreement will help to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in the Emirate, especially those related to the environment," said Razan Al Mubarak, EAD’s Assistant Secretary General.

"Both organizations signing this agreement strongly believe that environmental protection and conservation of natural resources is the responsibility of all sectors, and especially the industrial sector", she added.

"We will work together closely on a joint online database and exchange expertise related to issuing industrial permits and evaluating environmental studies. We will cooperate in conducting environmental inspections for industrial facilities to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in the Emirate, especially those related to the environment and issued by EAD", said Mohammed Hassan Al Qamzi, Chief Executive Officer, ZonesCorp.

He added: "We expect this agreement to help simplify procedures related to issuing and following up on permits. In this way, we will be encouraging industrial investment and protecting the environment at the same time".

Both organisations will meet within two weeks to develop a detailed mechanism and apply the terms and conditions of the MoU.
