The board of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company (ADNEC) passed its budget and action plan for 2011.
Held under its chairman Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, the board reviewed performance reports for last year which showed that the National Exhibition Centre hosted 148 events, an increase of 24.3 per cent over the previous year when the event numbered 119. ADNEC also bagged 14 prestigious awards including the title of "International Venue of the Year" at the Exhibition News awards; in a strong endorsement of ADNEC growing reputation as a provider of world class exhibition and event facilities.
The meeting also looked at prospects ADNEC could reap from its agreement with U.S global destination marketing firm, Marketing Challenges International (MCIntl) to bring major global corporate and association events to the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
The board also reviewed positive results of inaugurating the second phase expansion of ExCeL London at AED 900 million (GBP 165 million).
Since ADNEC’s acquisition of ExCeL London in May 2008, premier London venue attracted 206 events in 2010 compared to 214 in 2009.
