Maestro Valery Gergiev along with 76 artists from 63 internationally acclaimed orchestras across 31 countries converged on the steps of the Emirates Palace this morning ahead of the premier performance of the World Orchestra for Peace in the Arab World. Founder & Artistic Director of the Abu Dhabi Festival, Her Excellency Mrs. Hoda Al Khamis Kanoo personally welcomed the artists to Abu Dhabi where they will open the schedule of events for Abu Dhabi Festival 2011.

This group of musicians, hand selected to perform in Abu Dhabi, have never played as a group before and will have only 36 hours to rehearse together ahead of their sold out performance in the Emirates Palace on tomorrow (Tuesday 4th January) night.

The concert marks the inauguration of Abu Dhabi Festival’s 8th year of programs. The full 10 day Abu Dhabi Festival line-up will be announced in the coming weeks.
