NBA JamFest Abu Dhabi 2010 closed last night with fans cheering on their favorite teams in the finals of the men’s, women’s and university 3-on-3 basketball tournaments where ‘Old School’ men, ‘Adix Stargate’ women and University of Wollengong Dubai were the winners of the final 3-on-3 tournaments.
13,000 basketball lovers and families attended the three-day basketball festival at the FLASH Forum on Yas Island, meeting NBA Legend Hakeem ‘The Dream’ Olajuwon, playing basketball, practicing tricks and participating in games and dance workshops.
As the final matches were played, John Lickrish, Managing Director of FLASH Entertainment, commented:
“The Yas Island Show Weekends are bringing something new to Abu Dhabi and the region week after week. This weekend brought something unique with the NBA Jamfest and attendance of the legend Hakeem ‘the dream’ Olajuwan. It was amazing to see thousands of fans and players of all ages and skill levels out enjoying basketball and participating in free family activities all weekend long”.
The three day event included performances by New York Knicks City Dancers and high flying acrobatic stunts by the Milwaukee Bucks “Rim Rockers” Dunk team, plus the extremely rare opportunity to be photographed with the NBA Larry O’Brien trophy.
The next FLASH offering in the Yas Island Show Weekend series is Creamfields, the world’s biggest electronic dance festival. Creamfields weekend, which is on 9th December, is back in Abu Dhabi for the second year with a new format, new venue, amazing entertainment and some of the world’s leading DJs including David Guetta, Dizzee Rascal and many more.
In addition to Creamfields, three hotels on Yas Island (Yas Hotel, Crowne Plaza and Centro Hotel) will host themed poolside parties “Splash out on Yas” on Friday 10th December, with performances by leading local and international DJs.
