Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) delivered the last group of the advanced educational aids targeting students with special educational needs who have been integrated into Abu Dhabi public schools. 28 touch-screen laptops worth AED 168,000 have been recently distributed to SEN students in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Gharbia to mark the delivery of the last group of various specialized tools and equipment worth AED 3.5 million.
Mr. Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, ADEC’s Executive Director of School Operations, said that “ADEC is keen to facilitate the integration of special needs students into public school by providing them with all types of support to help them continue their education successfully. We are keen to ensure that all students are given equal opportunities to demonstrate and best exploit their talents, skills and abilities,” Al Dhaheri added.
Immediately after the touch-screen laptops were distributed to students, ADEC organized a training program in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Gharbia for the targeted deaf students, speech-language pathologists and sign language teachers to train them on the methods of using these advanced devices that help students obtain visual information. The laptops can be used in all classes and at home as well as in conducting research and searching the internet.
Earlier, ADEC had provided special needs students with other equipment and tools that included Smart Boards, Data Shows, Braille Printers, Electronic Magnification Kits, Portable Magnifiers, Talking calculator, Perkins Braille, Tactile globe, Derbi Share Language Test Kit, and other tools.
