The Gallery at the 4th International Date Palm Festival displays 25 captivating cultural photographs shortlisted for the Best Photography prize to be awarded during the event. The festival’s photography competition ran during the build up to the show encouraging the public to upload photographs inspired by Arab culture and heritage.
Commenting on the entries received for the competition, Qaboos Khalid, Director of the Festival, Turret Media, said: “We received over 400 entries and they are all very impressive. It was a tough decision for the judges to choose the 25 shortlisted entries that are displayed in the Festival Gallery. They are absolutely incredible images of date fruits, palm trees against backdrops of stunning landscapes, of traditional crafts and customs. We are delighted that so many people took part in the competition, it will be interesting to see who will take home the prize.”
The prize will be awarded to the winner at a ceremony in the Date Palm Oasis at the festival at 4 pm on Saturday 27th November. The festival is currently taking place in Hall No: 11 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre. With its exciting line- up of international exhibitors, exotic varieties of date fruits, entertainment, and competitions for children; the festival is a must attend event for the entire family.
The 4th International Date Palm Festival is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, Minister of Presidential Affairs and the Chairman of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority. The six-day event which kick started on Monday and runs till November 27th is organized by Turret Media and supported by United Arab Emirates University, Khalifa International Date Palm Award, Date Palm Friends Society and Date Palm Global Network with the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority as the strategic partner.
The headline sponsor for the festival is Department of Municipal Affairs.
