His Serene HighnessPrince Albert II of Monaco yesterday visited Masdar City to see first at hand the visible progress and innovative technologies being integrated into the sustainable, cutting-edge urban development. Prince Albert II also met with Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, CEO and managing director of Masdar, to discuss the importance of global collaboration as a key driver in discovering and commercializing technologies to address the pressing challenges of climate change and energy security.

Prince Albert II of Monaco said: “The fact is, our environment is in trouble and we must unite in a global effort to change our habits. Protecting our environment and finding new sources of reliable power is the challenge that we face. Masdar, along with the visionary leadership of Abu Dhabi, is playing a vital role in discovering and delivering real results in renewable energy and clean technology innovation it shares the concern that I wish to address through the action of my Foundation.”

Prince Albert II met with Masdar senior staff to discuss the value Masdar City can bring in facilitating open innovation.

“Protecting our habitats and the environment is a global effort, and collaboration is critical in advancing innovation in areas like sustainable development and weather-driven sources of power,” said Prince Albert II. “Masdar is a place where the private sector and the scientific community can come together to make meaningful advancements in the areas our planet needs most.”
