TDIC Selects Contractors For Saadiyat Beach Villas Construction And Infrastructure Works
(15 September 2010)

Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), the master developer of major tourism destinations in Abu Dhabi, has selected the contractors for the infrastructure and construction of the first phase of Saadiyat Beach Villas on Saadiyat Island.

Al Jaber Building LLC, an Abu Dhabi-based company, will handle the construction of the 354 villas. Meanwhile, Hilalco, a well-established contracting company in Abu Dhabi, is contracted to build the infrastructure relating to the project, which includes road works and utilities.

The villas will be built alongside the Jawaher Al Saadiyat model villas located in the Saadiyat Beach District. The project will offer an unrivalled lifestyle with its cutting-edge design, modern facilities and inspiring natural setting.

The first phase of the development comprises three- to six-bedroom villas with varying luxuriously designed layouts in Mediterranean, Arabian and Contemporary styles. All villas are designed to exude elements of elegance and comfort, and some of the top-end luxury villas will even comprise their own gymnasium, elevator, swimming pool and movie theatre.

“Selecting Al Jaber and Hilalco demonstrates our commitment to ensuring the prompt development of Saadiyat Island’s residential districts,” stated Lee Tabler, TDIC’s Chief Executive Officer. “Despite the current market challenges, construction on Saadiyat Island continues on track, proving its value as a promising and long-term investment for its future residents.”

Jihad Khaled, Managing Director of Al Jaber Building LLC, said, "We are very pleased to be awarded the construction of the Saadiyat Beach Villas and add one of TDIC’s iconic landmarks to our portfolio. This will be a challenging project for us, allowing us to demonstrate our vast experience and capabilities.”

UAE and GCC national investors will be offered homes on a freehold basis with expatriates qualifying for 99-year leases.

“We are honoured to be part of the development of Saadiyat Island’s residential project,” said Antonios Polos, Senior Project Manager of Hilalco. “As a local Abu Dhabi-owned company, we are proud to work on this development and look forward to the success and delivery of this infrastructure project to TDIC.”

Overall work on Saadiyat Island is moving along at a steady pace with the opening of great exciting projects over the coming few months. These include the Saadiyat bridge and expressway, the Gary Player designed Saadiyat Beach Golf Course and the Saadiyat Experience Centre (Manarat Al Saadiyat), which will provide an overview of the island’s distinctive projects.
