Agthia Group PJSC, one of the leading FMCG companies in the UAE, announced today it will be entering the processed fresh fruit and vegetable segment. The Abu Dhabi based company, which is listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities exchange, will be setting up a new production facility within its existing Al Ain Vegetable Processing Factory complementing existing activity. Commercial production is expected to commence in Q2, 2011.
Mr. Ilias Assimakopoulos, the CEO of Agthia said, “We have identified the sizeable and margin enhancing processed fresh fruit and vegetable segment as one that has great future growth potential and will provide Agthia the opportunity to service the expanding hospitality and catering industry needs.”
Agthia has been aggressively pursuing its expansion and diversification strategy. In 2009 the company, started production and distribution of Capri Sun juice drink, established a tomato paste, frozen vegetable and fruit puree factory in Egypt and earlier this month announced its entry into the frozen baked products segment by setting up production facility in Abu Dhabi.
