The giant Manchester City FC shirt touring Abu Dhabi as part of Etihad Airways’ and the emirate’s growing support for the Premier League outfit, makes its final stop at the Summer in Abu Dhabi family festival today (Thursday) as it looks to collect more than 5,000 signatures.
Taking centre-stage at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre’s (ADNEC) Hall 11, the focal point of Summer in Abu Dhabi’s family activities, the 18x22 metre replica shirt – the largest-of-its-kind in the world - will be on display until 3rd July, from 4-9pm daily.
After the weekend, the shirt will be flown to the UK where it will be unveiled at the opening Manchester City FC home game, emblazoned with goodwill messages from UAE residents and visitors.
As an extra bonus, fans who pledge their support for the club and sign the shirt will be entered into a draw to be the club’s mascot at a home match next season. They will also have the chance to win a Manchester City FC shirt.
“This is just another great reason to come down to Summer in Abu Dhabi and be a part of something special. Football fever has certainly gripped the country and the giant shirt promotion gives fans an opportunity to leave a long-lasting mark with one of the sport’s powerhouses,” said Faisal Al Sheikh, Events Manager, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), which organises the six-week Summer in Abu Dhabi and is the Official Destination Partner of Manchester City FC.
Summer in Abu Dhabi 2010, running until 4th August, includes great family activities, award-winning international acts, best-in-class edutainment and unbeatable ticket, hotel and attraction deals in Abu Dhabi city and Al Ain.
Throughout Summer in Abu Dhabi, ADTA and its stakeholders are offering an expansive ‘one-for-one’ campaign which gets GCC travellers free air seats with Etihad, complimentary room nights, meal deals, discounted attractions and free tours. More than 30 four and five star hotels in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain are taking part in the promotion, which is also open to UAE residents.
In addition to the big shirt promotion, ADNEC will also host a wealth of edutainment zones with activities for every age group in its Hall 11, which include laser games, a revolutionary 5D cinema show, clown and driving schools, fun mazes, dance zones and many more family fun attractions.
A wealth of free activities are also running across the emirate’s major shopping centres - Abu Dhabi Mall, Marina Mall and Al Wahda Mall in Abu Dhabi, as well as Al Jimi Mall, Al Ain Mall and Bawadi Mall in Al Ain.
Entry to ADNEC Hall 11 is AED 15 and tickets can be bought on-site with all visitors qualifying for a free draw to win luxury Chevrolet cars.
