Budget Rent-a-Car, one of the world’s leading car and van rental companies, has stepped up its expansion drive in Abu Dhabi by opening a new outlet at Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Skypark Plaza, the region’s first car parking specialist provider.
Budget anticipates substantial business from the new outlet, as Abu Dhabi International Airport continues to enhance its reputation as one of the fastest growing and dynamic airports in the world.
The announcement was made by UAE-based Liberty Investment Company (LIC), the UAE master franchisee for Budget Rent-a-Car, as it continues to implement its nationwide expansion plan for Budget.
“Budget’s successful bid in acquiring strategic space in the Skypark Plaza is a major development that will significantly contribute to boosting our revenues in the emirate of Abu Dhabi,” said Salim Damji, Senior General Manager, UAE, Budget Rent-a-Car. “With this move, we anticipate a 25 per cent growth in business in the capital during 2010.”
Budget’s presence in Abu Dhabi includes two city offices and the newly opened outlet at Abu Dhabi International Airport Skypark Plaza.
“Abu Dhabi is a key focus area, driven by the frenetic pace of growth witnessed across the emirate and the spate of headline-grabbing projects, such as the Yas Marina F1 Circuit, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Guggenheim Museum, Masdar zero-carbon City and master-planned island developments, all of which will push the Emirate towards a quantum leap as a key tourism destination. Budget is fully geared to tap the potential created by this scenario,” added Damji.
The launch of Skypark Plaza is part of Abu Dhabi Airport Company’s (ADAC) plan to offer convenient multi-storey parking facility in close proximity to the terminal building, enhanced by value-added services like convenience store, car rental counters, pharmacy, money exchange, ATM machines, etc.
Huraiz Almur Bin Huraiz, Chief Commercial Officer of ADAC, commented: “This is an important development in line with our commitment to offer choice and convenience to our customers throughout their travelling experience at our airport. Budget is a well established name in the car rental industry and we have awarded it this contract in a prime location due to its first class services and competitive rates.”
Passenger traffic at Abu Dhabi International Airport rose by 13.8 percent year-on-year to 2,578,920 in the first quarter of 2010, according to the figures released by ADAC.
Budget currently has a network of 14 offices across the UAE, including offices at the Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah international airports, making it one of the largest and most successful vehicle rental networks in the country. Two new offices in Dubai -- Burj Downtown area and Dubai Marina – are scheduled to be opened by September 2010.
