Abu Dhabi Municipality has urged all the consultants and contractors to abide by the decision of the Ministry of Labour to implement the afternoon work ban decision, especially for works performed performed at open spaces from 12:30 pm until 3:00 pm, with effect from today till Wednesday, September 15th.

It also called them to take more preventive measures to safeguard the health and safety of workers in line with the civic keenness for public safety.

The civic body stressed the need for educating workers about the dangers of working under sunlight, calling on employers to provide what it takes to protect workers from the heat exhaust, including shield shades, provision of places of rest, cold water, fluids and materials that help perfuse the body such as lemon and salt, as well as first aid equipment in the workplace.

The health, security and environmental teams at the urban planning sector of the municipality participated in the workshop on health procedures in work places and safety of workers, which was organised by the Ministry of Labour yesterday at Police Officers Club in Abu Dhabi.

The Ministry of Labour extended the prohibition of work in the afternoon during this year an extra month, thus making it three months, according to the ministerial resolution No. / 443 / 2010, which sets out the working hours of the work performed under the sun and in open spaces during the summer period from mid-June for the next three months.
