First Ever World Arabian Horse Racing Conference In Abu Dhabi From September 23-25
(13 June 2010)

The Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Flat Racing Festival in association with Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities and Emirates Arabian Horse Society will stage the first-ever World Arabian Horse Racing Conference in Abu Dhabi from September 23-25.

The three-day event will be held on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2010 (ADIHEX) in co-ordination with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

Announcing details of the conference, Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Communications Director of ADACH. "With IFAHR providing full support and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council co-ordinating the World Arabian Horse Racing Conference, the event will be another platform to acquaint visitors with the deep-rooted traditions of Abu Dhabi and the UAE." "The Conference is expected to attract hundreds of experts, researchers and others involved with Purebred Arabian horse racing from more than 20 IFAHR member countries and from around the world. The aim is to attract interest from breeders and stable owners from as far a field as South America, Australia and Japan," he said.

"In the 20-year history of Arabian horse racing, we have seen increasing support worldwide. The UAE has been in the forefront while other Gulf countries have played a major role in promoting Arabian racing. This conference is another major step forward," said Sami Jassim Al Bunain, IFAHR Chairman.

"There is a weakness in this sport however, because there is a lack of understanding about it. This conference will educate others about purebred horseracing, and will act as a boost for IFAHR," he said.

"The conference gives us another boost to strengthen our relationship with IFAHR, who have been supporting our efforts to promote Purebred Arabian horse racing around the globe," said Lara Sawaya, Director of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Flat Racing Festival.

The Festival has introduced a 10-race series for the Al Wathba Stud Farm in Abu Dhabi exclusively for smaller stables for next season and plans are underway to introduce 30 more races globally.

"These races are to encourage and to provide the small-time breeders and owners with more opportunities to participate and be actively engaged in the breed," said Lara Sawaya "We are also running a contest to forecast the winners of the Sheikh Mansour Global race series through our website ( www.sheikhmansoorfestival.com) and facebook for a total prize of Dh125,000, starting from the next series July 11 in Holland."
