Maximus Air Cargo, the UAE’s largest dedicated aircraft operator, performed true to its name at the 2010 Supply Chain and Transport Awards (SCATA) held at Grosvenor House Hotel in Dubai. In a glittering event, organised by ITP Business magazines, Maximus was proclaimed Cargo Operator of the Year (Cargo Airline) and President and CEO Fathi H. Buhazza was awarded the much acclaimed ‘Hall of Fame’, which honours leading personalities in the Middle East logistics industry.
SCATA, which is now in its fourth year, has fast established itself as the opportunity for the Middle East logistics industry to honour high achievers who have set benchmarks in the region and beyond. Maximus’s Cargo Operator of the Year award recognised how the airline had distinguished itself by delivering consistent industry-leading service in the Middle East and globally over the previous year.
Another great honour for the evening was the selection of Fathi H. Buhazza, President and CEO of Maximus Air Cargo, as this year’s chosen figurehead within the industry. The ‘Hall of Fame Award’ was for the first time ever decided by public vote, and Buhazza took a staggering 43.5% of the votes. This much-coveted award gives public recognition to leaders who have made valued contributions to the industry’s growth over the years while raising the benchmark for regional and global excellence.
Commenting on the success of the evening Buhazza said
“Maximus Air Cargo’s success at SCATA was indeed a great honour and reflects the hard work and expertise that the Maximus team have channeled into building what is now the region’s strongest all cargo airline. We’re proud and delighted and in the months ahead we can promise more exciting developments.”
Reflecting on his Hall of Fame accolade, Buhazza was characteristically modest
“I’m very grateful, especially as my colleagues in the industry made the vote, and I wish to thank them for their confidence in my work. Most importantly, I am grateful that many others like myself feel passionately about driving standards and best practice in our region. In the big picture, this is our ultimate goal and SCATA is a wonderful vehicle for recognising this.”
