Abu Dhabi Kindergarten and the Chinese School organized an orientation program for parents of new students who will enrol in the upcoming school year to enhance communication with them.
The program included a meeting to introduce the teaching plan and new educational developments in the kindergarten for the next school year and personal interviews with parents over a week during which they filled out health and nutrition questionnaires to provide the school with detailed and specific information related to their children’s health and activities.
During the orientation, Mrs. Fatima Al-Bastaki the kindergarten’s Principal presented ADEC’s standards, criteria and terms of student registration and admission. The terms include parents’ commitment that their children shall continue their studies at the Chinese school until higher grades. The students will study three languages at school, Arabic, English and Chinese.
Background of the Kindergarten and its organizational structure were also introduced and parents were provided with the guideline which includes school’s policies, rules and regulations and a home support kit which included enrichment activities to help parents prepare their children to the new school year.
Mrs. Fayqa Al-Mulla, Vice Principal for technical affairs, explained to parents the essential information regarding the social capabilities, skills and knowledge of children determined by the new student application. How to complete the administrative procedures of student registration by filling out the personal data in the registration form according to eSIS and the required documents were also explained.
The kindergarten places students in classrooms based on balance between the number of girls and boys in each classroom should be established, diversity of age groups as there should be a group of children aged 4 years and less in each classroom and placement of students in the classrooms based on the level of performance during admission interviews.
Personal interviews with parents were conducted over a week, to enable the KG administration identify all aspects of the child, by filling out forms to be attached to student’s profiles. The profile shall include personal data concerning student’s family, food and social habits and daily activities to include wearing clothes, going to bathroom, sleeping, etc.
Parents should provide school with the entire medical and health data of the child and to illustrate any illnesses or specific problems.
