A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Electronic linking for Air Quality Data Exchange was signed today (Sunday 25 April, 2010) between the Environment Agency- Abu Dhabi (EAD) and the Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones (ZonesCorp). The two organisations will cooperate and exchange data electronically on pollution control and on maintaining ambient air quality.

The MoU was signed by H.E Majid Ali Al Mansouri, EAD’s Secretary General and H.E. Mohammed Hassan Al Qamzi, Chief Executive Officer, ZonesCorp in a ceremony held at EAD offices.

“Improving Abu Dhabi Emirate’s air quality is one of our priorities for the next five years and this MoU is another step forward in addressing the impact of current and future development activities on the quality of ambient air in Abu Dhabi especially in the industrial sector, said H.E Majid Al Mansouri, Secretary General of EAD.

Together with ZonesCorp, we will be able to more effectively monitor the major industrial and residential areas. We will also be able to improve the performance of EAD central station, to collaborate in the field of Air Quality forecasting for the Emirate, to share scientific expertise and build national capacity” Al Mansouri added.

Commenting on the MoU signed between ZonesCorp and the Environment Authority of Abu Dhabi (EAA), HE Mohammad Hassan Al Qamzi, CEO, ZonesCorp, said: “Signing this MoU with EAA goes in line with the corporate policies of ZonesCorp which is always keen to improve QHSE related procedures. This collaboration with EAA reflects ZonesCorp’s interest in eliminating all types of pollution in the industrial zones related to the corporation.”

The electronic connection between ZonesCorp’s station and EAA’s air quality control network plays a key role in the implementation of the targeted objectives and environmental procedures of our emirate.”
