The Japanese Sakura Festival has been launched at the Formal Park of Abu Dhabi Corniche. Hosted by Abu Dhabi Municipality over 4 weeks, the festival features a host of diverse activities as well as cultural and artistic shows depicting modern life and authentic Japanese traditions.
Present at the inauguration ceremony were Japanese Ambassador to the UAE Tatsuo Watanabe and a host of guests and dignitaries.
Director General of Abu Dhabi Municipality Khalifa Al-Mazrouie said the event promotes the role of parks and contributes to the dialogue among the cultures and peoples of the world.
The event, he added, is unprecedented across the region and is part of the Municipality’s efforts to take a leading role in boosting the social ’&’ cultural activities, and increase exposure to the habits, lifestyles and the cultural & social legacy of other peoples in order to strengthen the UAE’s cultural and social relations with the peoples of other countries..
Depicting modern life and authentic Japanese traditions, the Sakura Festival will include shows on Japanese Martial Samurai arts, Japanese & international music spots, typical traditional Japanese marriage protocols presented in thrilling live shows, traditional ’&’ modern dresses and several other comic spots for all ages and tastes, including drawing, and kids face-painting.
Japanese handicrafts such as the manufacturing of the traditional fans, paper lighting, traditional Japanese houses, visualized and narrated stories are also to be highlighted by the event.
