Following the completion by the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), in conjunction with Abu Dhabi Police and Dubai Police, of Phase I of interfacing the traffic system of Dubai Emirate with the federal traffic system, encompassing exchange of offences and vehicle query, the CEO of RTA Licensing Agency Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan said that the e-link with the federal traffic system scheme comprised two phases. Phase I included the exchange of offences and vehicle query; which had been completed, and Phase II; which is set for completion in July 2010.
“The Agency has set off the implementation of Phase II, in conjunction with Abu Dhabi Police and Dubai Police, which comprises three successive stages. In the first stage the federal traffic system services in the Emirate will be gradually activated starting from the mid of March 2010 at selected centers. Centers will be increased steadily according to the time schedule envisaged for the e-linking process” said Bahrozyan.
“The second stage encompasses the exchange of data between the two systems; a process which will result in creating a large pool of joint federal databases including information about the traffic files of driving licenses and vehicles. Stage 3, which is the final one, will witness the gradual offering of the traffic services of Dubai Emirate in all other emirates” he added.
Colonel Anwar Al Mulla, Director of IT Department of Abu Dhabi Police, said: “Through establishing this link-up, the scheme aims at standardizing the data of the two systems and making it easily accessible to customers. It also intends to minimize the amount of errors involved upon entering the core data such as those related to vehicle registration, licensing and registration renewal, besides improving and upgrading the customer services rendered to the highest standards in this regard”.
“Dubai Emirate is an integral part of the UAE and this link is testament to the full cooperation between the Emirate and the federal system. It contributes to better serving the customer; who is the focal point of service targeted by all stakeholders of the scheme. The process will ultimately upgrade the quality and efficiency of services delivered and play a catalyst role in realizing the vision of providing Safe and Smooth Transport for All”.
