Pyramedia Productions Concludes The Fourth Season Of The Hit Show Million’s Poet
(8 April 2010)

The much-awaited finale of season four of Million’s Poet came to a captivating end last night at Al Raha Beach Theatre. With a stage bursting with confetti and fireworks and 2000 viewers in the audience and millions across the Arab world, the winner was announced amid much anticipation.

Filmed live at Al Raha Beach Theatre, the season came to a close after 15 weeks of suspense leading many to question who would be the winner. The complete crew of Pyramedia was on hand to ensure this was another successful and eventful conclusion to the hit show. After four years of experience under their belts, the stage and lighting designers, sound engineers, producers and director have come together yet again to pull off the season’s finale.

The winner of the show, Nasser bin Thoueni Al Ajmi from Kuwait was announced under a canopy of festivities with the youngest finalist ever, Falah Al Mourigi Al Otaibi coming in second place and the internationally-acclaimed poetess Hissa Hilal gaining third place. Before the results were announced, a specially written operetta was staged with over 100 people performing on stage. Written by Million’s Poet season one winner Mohammed bin Fteis and poets Jumaa Al Ghawees and Hamad Al Saeed, the song was sung by superstars Hussein Al Jasmi, Mansour Zayed, Asmaa Al Munawar and Ayda Al Minhali.

The Millions’ Poet is held under the patronage of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi & Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and is produced by Pyramedia for the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH). H.E. Mohamed Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Director General of ADACH is the driving force of many of Abu Dhabi’s cultural initiatives and projects including Million’s Poet.

The Al Jahili Fort is the focus of this year’s stage design by Pyramedia’s set designer. The Fort in Al Ain is one of the largest forts in the country, built in the 1890s by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and was home to various members of the ruling family. The Fort acts as the central essence of the stage and is the focal point through which everything emerges.

A 42m LED screen, the first of its kind in the UAE, provides a backdrop to the stage and features moving graphics to illuminate the stage and the poets. Lighting designers brought the whole set to life using a variety of lighting including GLP products, used for the first time in the UAE. LED strips, tiles, moving heads and halogen lights are all used to light the stage, the poet’s chair and the judge’s desk.

As an interactive television show, audiences at Al Raha Beach Theatre are invited each week to vote for their favorite poets with voting keypads. This year saw wireless keypads attached to every seat with each audience member’s vote transmitted wirelessly to a base system and data then transferred on to a computer.

Year after year, Pyramedia has been successful in creating a team made up of international, regional and local specialists including the Arab world’s youngest producer, Mona Al Ruwaini. Pyramedia has built a team of experts dedicated to providing the best technology available for television productions and maintaining the quality of television programming avid viewers of Million’s Poet have come to expect of the television show.
