Abu Dhabi International Airport Offers 10% More Scheduled Flights In The 2010 Summer Season
(7 April 2010)

A combination of frequency increases, new destinations and new airlines establishing an Abu Dhabi route will lead to a 10% projected increase in the total number of flights offered to and from the UAE capital this summer scheduling season (April - October) compared to the same season last year, according to Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC).

Analytically, in the Summer 2010 Timetable, airlines at ADIA will be operating 835 weekly scheduled flights, connecting ADIA to 80 international destinations in 45 countries.

The expansion of Etihad Airways, the UAE’s flag carrier, is a significant contributor to the growth, with its launch of five flights per week to Tokyo and Nagoya as well as a frequency increase to many other destinations. New airlines operating flights to Abu Dhabi International Airport this season is another important factor. These include Air France’s five flights per week to Paris starting in May, GMG Airlines’ two flights per week to Dhaka, and two flights per week to Amman by Royal Falcon Airlines.

Ahmad Al Haddabi, Senior Vice President of Airports Operation, ADAC, said: "As we continue to see our airline partners launching new destinations and new airlines establishing Abu Dhabi routes, we are offering ever increasing connectivity and choice, with the convenience and comfort our customers have come to expect." In the Summer 2010 Timetable, ADIA’s top international routes are Doha with 70 and Bahrain with 61 scheduled weekly frequencies, followed by Muscat, Kuwait, London and Amman.

Airlines increasing their flight frequencies, compared to the summer season schedule 2009, include: Etihad Airways, Air India, Middle East Airlines, Pakistan International Airlines and Ukraine International Airlines.
