HCT Press, the academic publishing arm of the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), will launch its latest publication "Cultivating Real Writers: Emerging Theory and Practice for Adult Arab Learners" on April 6, 2010.
The book is a new publication about the teaching of writing to adult Arab learners of English and will be officially launched at the HCT’s 2010 English conference at Al Ain Women’s College tomorrow by HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of the HCT.
This volume, the third in the HCT Press’s "Foundations for the Future" General Education series, brings together research findings on writing and presents a number of approaches already being used to enhance the acquisition of better writing skills by Arab students in English-taught education.
HCT Press Executive Editor Mustapha Karkouti said Cultivating Real Writers features contributions from specialist English faculty members from across the HCT system, as well as contributions by faculty from UAEU, ZU, and Carnegie Mellon University (Qatar).
"This publication is a great example of scholarly discourse and collaboration between the HCT colleges and other higher education institutions in the region, with HCT leading the way in an important field where there is still limited literature", Mr Karkouti said.
