ADNEC (Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company) has announced that its largest indoor event space, known as Hall 12, will now be called ‘Abu Dhabi Hall’ in recognition of its status as the capital’s largest indoor public events venue and in tribute to Abu Dhabi emirate, which is its home.
The announcement was made on the opening day of GIBTM (Gulf Incentive, Business Travel & Meetings) Exhibition which is being held until March 31, 2010 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
“We are honoured to launch Abu Dhabi Hall and look forward to it attracting world renowned musicians, performers and sportsmen & women to Abu Dhabi for many years to come. The name Abu Dhabi Hall is part of a larger strategy which will see us bring the highest quality events to Abu Dhabi,” said H.E. Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Managing Director of ADNEC.
The newly-named Hall is widely regarded as one of the world’s most flexible event spaces, capable of staging a variety of events such as concerts, sporting and entertainment events, exhibitions, conferences, and weddings. The first event to take place at Abu Dhabi Hall will be a performance by legendary Welsh singer, Tom Jones on 16 April 2010.
Abu Dhabi Hall has already staged a large number of very high profile events under its previous name of Hall 12, including the performances of the Household Cavalry during ADIHEX 2009, the conference component of World Future Energy Summit 2010, the Sheikh Zayed Book Awards, several royal weddings and a number of Abu Dhabi University events. Abu Dhabi Hall is the UAE’s largest hall to house a permanent retractable seating solution. It can be configured to a number of set-ups and is capable of accommodating up to 6,000 spectators seated and 8,000 standing.
