Majid, the region’s highest-circulated children’s weekly publication, today celebrates 32 years of captivating the imaginations of generations of young Arab readers. Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADMC), the publisher of Majid, is celebrating the brand’s anniversary issue with the introduction of a fresh look, a 100% eco-friendly format, and several exciting initiatives for its audiences.
The magazine showcases a wealth of new sections and features, competitions, jokes and riddles, new stories and new characters. It also pays tribute to its legacy, by bringing some gems from the past to today’s young readers, such as the witty and intriguing Kalila wa Domna series, and creating a new multidimensional exploration storyline that takes Majid, the title character, on a journey on the Silk Road.
While Majid takes pride in its rich legacy, it also makes history today, with a slate of exciting initiatives. This includes eco-friendly printing, on 100% recycled paper – a first in its category for the region.
"This is the natural evolution of our commitment to help children expand their knowledge and creativity, as well as their environmental awareness”, said Gavin Dickinson, Executive Director of Publishing, at ADMC. “We have made a commitment to sustainable publishing by using 100% recycled paper for the printing of Majid, and we can maintain this practice thanks to the support from our young readers, advertisers and partners”, concluded Dickinson.
“Majid has fostered the minds and spirits of generations of young Arab readers for over three decades. It’s a great feeling for us to celebrate its long-standing presence, and we are immensely proud of the connection we have with young audiences across the region that fuels the continuous growth of Majid”, commented Fatima Seif, the magazine’s editor.
An award winning children’s weekly magazine, Majid, was launched in February 1979 and has grown to be one of the highest circulated publications in the Middle East. With some of the region’s leading cartoonists providing pages of fun, the magazine also encourages interactivity with its young readers and publishes contributions from its young fans.
