The Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council announced the signing of a Letter of Cooperation (LoC) with Trade Queensland in Australia which was under the Queensland - Abu Dhabi Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that has been executed in October 2009.
The Letter of Cooperation was signed by Abdullah Saeed Al Darmaki, General Manager of ADTC and Rob Whiddon, General Manager of Trade Queensland.
The agreement will help ADTC to effectively leverage and benefit from the experiences and domain knowledge of two Queensland Government Departments, namely Department of Employment, Economic Development ’&’ Innovation (DEEDI) and Department of Education ’&’ Training (DET) in administering employment programmes that overcome employment barriers for jobseekers, build up the skills base to address skills shortages, increase workforce participation and productivity and deliver skills formation strategies for sectors that are key to the continuous development of the economy.
The scope of the agreement will enable ADTC to draw on the skills and knowledge of these departments that have been instrumental in ensuring the skills of Queensland’s workforce have developed in line with the requirements of its economy.
ADTC will seek to consult with DEEDI to help develop programmes, frameworks and initiatives that will facilitate full and sustainable employment of Emiratis in Abu Dhabi.
Through its cooperation with DET, the Council will seek to gain input on devising a strategy to develop suitable skills formation and execution models that will provide demand-led training for Emirati jobseekers.
Speaking at the signing of the agreement, Abdullah Saeed Al Darmaki, General Manager of ADTC commented, "The formal establishment of a relationship with the Government of Queensland is a landmark for ADTC. The knowledge and experience that this strategic cooperation agreement allows us to draw on is invaluable." He added, "The Council plays a central role in developing the framework that is needed to ensure that skilled Emiratis can fulfill their potential in supporting the future development of Abu Dhabi’s economy."
