The UK-based Mosaic International Summer School, which was supported by Etihad Airways in 2009, has been heralded a great success by delegates from the United Arab Emirates who attended the event.
More than 80 young Muslim community leaders and entrepreneurs flew to the UK from nations including Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia to attend the school which was founded by HRH, The Prince of Wales.
Mohammad Al-Shamsi, 24 years old and from Dubai, who attended the school in 2009, said: “I gained a tremendous amount of experience and professional expertise in both the formal and informal meeting sessions.
“Mosaic helped me to extend my professional contacts as well as learn more about other global Muslim communities. I was also proud that Etihad Airways, the UAE’s national airline, was closely involved and flew the delegates to England for the school.”
Hareb Al Muhairy, Etihad Airways’ vice president corporate communications, said: “Etihad Airways continues to expand its corporate responsibility programme and the Mosaic Project was something we were pleased to be involved with because we share similar goals and ambitions in helping young people to develop their careers and gain necessary leadership skills.”
Delegates were from a diversity of backgrounds and experience including teachers, artists, designers, professionals, students, engineers and business leaders.
The Mosaic International Summer School took place in Cambridge and included study tours around the United Kingdom. Additional events for the delegates were hosted by Buckingham Palace and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
