ADEC To Visit UK For Acquiring New Educational Technology
(12 January 2010)

A high level delegation of Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), headed by Mohammed Salem Al Daheri, Head of Abu Dhabi Education Zone, will attend the British Education and Training Technology (BETT) Exhibition in UK from tomorrow.

The delegation including Eng. Hamad Al Dhaheri, Director of Infrastructure and Facilities at ADEC, will spend their visit examining the latest educational technological products available in the market, and making connections with key suppliers. The exhibition and seminar will provide useful insight into the most current products and developments in the field as ADEC continues to expand the ICT infrastructure of schools in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

"ADEC is committed to providing access to quality education to all students in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. A key component of our 10-Year Strategic Plan is to develop educational facilities that provide the best learning environments and help students develop the skills they need to become productive members of the workforce and our community," said Mohammed Salem Al Daheri.

"Attending BETT will help us better understand how we can use ICT to support curriculum development through enhancing and providing different methods for student learning," he added.

In December, ADEC unveiled plans to build 100 new schools in Abu Dhabi with construction on 18 schools starting this year. Technology is a key feature of the new school design that will be applied to new school buildings. Labs and ICT rooms will be equipped with the latest technology and every educational space in the new school buildings will be prepared for wireless connections to the internet providing a new learning mode for students in which they will learn direct computer skills. A number of technological features will also be applied to teaching methods making classes more interactive and conducive to an environment where students apply greater problem-solving and analytical skills.

"ADEC is performing due diligence as we prepare to establish a high-quality technology infrastructure in schools that will stand the test of time, and will enable our students to reach their learning goals and adapt quickly in a world of constant technological development and economic diversification," Eng. Hamad Al Dhaheri said.
