CFA Emirates, has announced to launch the National Investment Research Challenge next month to create awareness amongst business students about investment markets working. All universities and business schools have been invited to compete.

The nationwide competition will help develop understanding and awareness amongst business students in how the investment markets work. It is an educational initiative in which leading industry professionals will guide teams of three to four business and finance students, in researching and reporting on a publicly traded company.

It consists of analyzing a public company, mentoring by a professional research analyst, writing a research report and presenting its results and recommendations to a high profile panel of experts. Marks are awarded to each team on the basis of their investment case, their delivery and their ability to answer and respond to detailed analysis from the judges.

The success of this year’s national competition will lead to the UAE’s full participation in the next Global Investment Research Challenge hosted by CFA Institute in 2011. In this instance the winner of the 2011 national competition will represent the UAE at an EMEA regional final and, if successful, at the international final.

 Yacoub Nuseibeh, President of CFA Emirates, said: "The national competition will be the first of its kind held in the UAE. It is a fantastic opportunity for students to meet investment professionals working in the Emirates and gain practical experience into the work of a financial analyst. A successful national competition in 2010 will enable us to become part of the global competition in 2011, where the UAE champions will compete against successful teams from nearly 40 other countries."
