A source close to His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, owner of Manchester City FC, denied the credibility of the news that was released by Spanish sports daily AS.com on Sunday, December 27, 2009, and subsequently picked up by press agencies regarding His Highness’s wish to buy AS Real Madrid.
The source expressed his condemnation of the information released by the daily, describing it as unfounded and totally lacking in credibility. He went on to stress that Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed is currently focusing all his efforts and attention on upgrading Manchester City and pushing it towards the goal of taking its place amongst the United Kingdom’s top clubs.
The source added that Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed particularly appreciated Real Madrid’s experience and he was a great supporter of the twinning agreement that was signed in 2005 between the world-class Spanish club and Abu Dhabi’s Al Jazira Club, of which he is President.
