Fulfilling its strategic mission in developing and enhancing the performance and quality of service delivery to the telecom and IT sectors in the UAE and best serve the country and its residents, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has concluded a series of internal workshops in sustainable excellence as part of the Authority’s Capacity Building Program in the fields of excellence and organizational development. The workshops started on November 9th, 2009 and took place in the emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
The workshops were attended by TRA staff from various departments and offices in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, including the excellence and leadership team compromised of directors and staff of various management units at TRA. The workshops main thematic areas included; excellence management and leadership, change management, Radar, and excellence delivery. The workshops touched on several sustainable excellence objectives mainly; how to contribute to the achievement of TRA’s mission and vision, strengthen the core values adopted by TRA, instill the culture of excellence, create communication channels between TRA’s various departments, establish common grounds of concepts and lessons derived from practical development and field applications, time management in personal coordination, and enhance the capacity of TRA’s team in preparation for the participation in the Emirate Award for Government Excellence.
In this regard, H.E Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, Director General of TRA, said that conducting these workshops on the issue of leadership and management of organizational excellence will enhance and develop employee skills and provide true guidance to best approaches to excellence; a goal that TRA and its team are working hard to achieve. Al Ghanim also said that the efforts of the staff and working groups of TRA in implementing the various standards of the Sheikh Khalifa Program for Government Excellence will no doubt contribute in developing effective internal work processes and will help in enhancing the performance of the government sector at large, adding that applying such standards will result in client satisfaction.
Al Ghanim also said that the Sheikh Khalifa Program for Government Excellence is a true manifestation of the leadership’s wise directives for the country and is a reflection of the Vision of the federal government. He considered this as one of the most important government measures in enhancing positive competition amongst government institutions and sectors, describing it as a new stage that presents a continuous challenge in the journey of hard work, productivity and excellence.
