The organising committee for the Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship (ADXC 5) has announced that the fifth edition of the championship will take place in the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi on August 2 at the Mubadala Arena.
This move follows the success of previous editions of the championship in Abu Dhabi, the Brazilian city of Balneário Camboriú, and Paris, France, which was recently held in May.
The championship has managed to capture the attention of audiences with its exciting and thrilling matches, reflecting its ambition for expansion and reaching new global audiences with each event. This is particularly evident given the participation of high-profile athletes in previous editions, unique rules, and unprecedented organisation in the world of combat sports.
The upcoming championship will feature innovative matches that embody the UAE’s vision of promoting martial arts on a global scale in a distinctive manner. Additionally, the growing interest in combat sports, particularly "jiu-jitsu and grappling," serves as a strong motivation for the continued success and enhancement of the Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship’s international reputation, aiming to lead in the world of mixed martial arts.
The competitions announced by the organising committee yesterday will include several high-profile bouts in the sports of "jiu-jitsu and grappling," including American fighter Orygahn Faber (UFC Champion) against Brazilian BJJ World Champion Bibiano Fernandes, and Brazilian Rairon Gracie against his compatriot Marcus Carosinho. The co-main event will feature American Kevin Lee against fellow countryman Chad Mendes, and Portuguese Pedro Paixoto against Swedish Max Lindblad, with Emirati champions Omar Al-Suwaidi and Balqis Al-Hashimi also participating.
Tariq Al-Bahri, General Manager of Global Vision Sports Management, the event's organiser, said: "Abu Dhabi Extreme has been achieving success after success since its inception, and we are preparing to organise the fifth edition with the highest international standards and sports metrics. This reflects our commitment to impress the global sports community and showcase our ability to present exceptional events both within and beyond the UAE.
These achievements are a testament to our adherence to the guidance of our wise leadership aimed at promoting and developing the sport of jiu-jitsu, and we intend to continue this journey and organise many more successful editions in the future. We must also thank the championship’s sponsors, particularly Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), for their dedication to the event and their role in ensuring its continuity and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as the global capital of combat sports."
"Abu Dhabi Extreme," with its innovative and unique approach, has made a significant impact on the global combat sports scene and received praise from many prominent athletes. The championship featured matches in jiu-jitsu and grappling within a cage, deviating from traditional mat-based bouts. Global Vision Sports Management (IVSM) plans to organise international tours of the championship in several of the world's top cities with a selection of the best global fighters.
