Islamic songs with a humanitarian aim have spread across the Middle East and beyond, gathering fans from East to West and inspiring people worldwide with its harmonious tunes and serene melodies. ‘Nashwa’ this week welcomes a variety of artists who sing inspiring songs with a humanitarian and social goal of uniting people and bringing peace to all.
‘Nashwa’ is aired on Dubai TV every Monday at 22:30 and repeated every Saturday at 18:00.
Nashwa Al Ruwaini welcomes a vast range of artists to perform on the show including the Emirati Nasheed artist Asem Al Qasimi, Jordanian singer Yahya Hawa, Moroccan artist Abdelsalam Al Hosni and Egyptian artist Ahmed Hamdi.
The show also welcomes Ahmed Ahmed, an Australian artist of Arab origin and a member of the band The Brothahood, who chose to present the message of Islam to the West through a popular art form, rap.
Each of the artists tells stories of their experiences and the reasons behind their choice in singing Islamic songs. They also discussed the evolution of these songs in the modern world and how it touches on various themes in life.

‘Nashwa’ is a weekly, self-titled televised talk show broadcast on Dubai TV and presented and produced by Nashwa Al Ruwaini herself. The aim of the show is to journey through different social issues surrounding the Arab world and its people, discussing the current problems and issues faced by people all over the region.

The show is a result of cooperation between Dubai TV and Pyramedia, Nashwa’s own production company, which has grown to become one of the largest production companies in the region. The ‘Nashwa’ show has been running weekly on Dubai TV since May 2006.
Nashwa has been voted best female presenter for five consecutive years from 1998-2002 by various Arab newspapers and magazines and most recently has won the prestigious Feigenbaum Leadership Award and was awarded the Gold prize at the Tenth Gulf Radio and Television Production Festival held in Bahrain for her show ‘Nashwa’. She was also nominated for ‘Best Entertainer’ at the 2008 Rose D’Or Awards in Switzerland.
