A delegation from the Peoples Daily of China paid a visit to the National Media Council and discussed with Director General Ibrahim Al Abed, the possibility of publishing an overseas edition of the newspaper from UAE.
Once brought out from the UAE, the paper will cater to about 200,000 Chinese expatriates living and working in the UAE, thus bringing them the news from home and enlightening them on the culture and traditions of the United Arab Emirates.
With publication started in June 1948 and boasting a current circulation of 3 million, People’s Daily takes its place among the world top 10 according to UNESCO figures.
The delegation toured various departments of the National Media Council including the Emirates News Agency (WAM) and was briefed on its services.
NMC Director General Ibrahim Al Abed welcomed the delegation and promised cooperation within the framework of the country’s rules and regulations.
