ADMAF Presents Educational Workshops By Legendary Formula 1 Photographer
(28 October 2009)
- Students and emerging artists receive expert advice on the art of photographing high speed objects -

The Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF) is presenting a series of unique photography workshops by Formula 1 photography expert Daniel Reinhard, in the lead up to much anticipated Formula 1TM Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this coming weekend. These specially selected workshops fall within ADMAF’s wide ranging cultural education mission, which seeks to nurture young national talent and inspire creativity among up and coming Emirati artists.

The workshops, held at Zayed University, the Higher College of Technology- Men’s College and Dar Ibn Al Haytham for Visual Arts in Dubai, gave students of the Arts Faculties of the respective universities, as well as professional and emerging artists an opportunity to interact with the famed F1 photographer, and get an overview of his work. During the workshops Reinhard presented a historical overview of F1 photography and offered practical advice of shooting on the site of the F1 Circuit, in addition to providing guidance on capturing images of high speed objects, editing, managing cameras with superior light and information on the technical features of cameras from the 1950s through to the 1980s.

Daniel has held an illustrious career as recognized F1 photographer since 1979, having taken over from his father who was also engaged at several Grand Prix races until the 1970s. The Reinhard Dynasty has taken photos of more than 430 F1 races and the family’s archive boasts a collection of over 400,000 photos. Daniel Reinhard, his father Sepp, and his grandfather Joseph Reinhard (1901-1975), represent three generations whose photographs reflect the modern evolution of media. They depict events capturing the distinctive features and peculiarities from a personal point of view in newspapers and magazines.

HE. Hoda Al Khamis Kanoo, Founder of the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF), said:

“ADMAF works throughout the year and across a variety of engaging programmes to encourage, educate young and inspire up and coming talent in the UAE, and we are thrilled to be participating, in this unique way, in the biggest sporting event our country is witnessing. It is exciting to see Abu Dhabi grow as a regional platform for arts, culture and sport. Documenting these historic events will be crucially important for the coming generations and photography is, of course, an essential part of these efforts. We hope to see the students who participated in these workshops make the best of them and develop their own talents for the purpose of both history and art.”

Dr. Simon Jones, Director at the Higher College of Technology-Men’s college, commented:
“Abu Dhabi Men’s College is delighted to be participating in this exciting event. It brings international prestige to the College and allows our students to express themselves in an important way.”
