GE Highlights Career Opportunities At Najah Exhibition In Abu Dhabi
(21 October 2009)
• Recruitment drive for talented nationals and UAE residents • Varied growth opportunities across GE’s key businesses

General Electric Company (GE) is showcasing career opportunities across its diverse portfolio of businesses in the region, for the third consecutive year, at Najah, the premier education, training and careers exhibition, being held from October 20 to 22, 2009, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

GE is highlighting job opportunities in various business sectors including aviation, healthcare, energy, media, finance, oil & gas, and security, as well as the growth options available for both fresh graduates and experienced professionals looking for a promising career with the company.

Nabil Habayeb, GE’s President and CEO for the Middle East and Africa region, said: “GE has been integrated into supporting the socio-economic growth of the Middle East region for over 80 years. Through our diverse businesses and strong public - private partnerships, we aim to empower the local population. Regarded as an Employer of Choice, GE already has a strong workforce in the region. We will continue to create new career opportunities – a move that is extremely important in today’s economic climate.”

He added: “Najah is an ideal platform for us to interact with professional job aspirants directly. We have plans to hire talented UAE and non-UAE nationals to support our growth strategy for the region, especially through GE’s UAE operations, which play a key role in our Middle East business.”

GE will have a dedicated pavilion at Najah, where prospective candidates can meet the company’s senior managers for advice on potential careers with the company.

Annually, GE spends some US$1 billion (AED 3.67 billion) on training and education programs for its employees worldwide. Driving its commitment to strengthen local recruitment and enhance employee participation, GE has already launched the ‘Come Join GE’ micro-site (www.ge.com/mea/careers).

GE has brought its legendary leadership programmes into the region, which offer highly talented and capable individuals with a thriving professional track record, a chance to take up GE leadership roles. The two-year programme gives individuals an opportunity to be a part of major projects across all GE businesses. The positions involve interaction with key decision makers and exposure to various business approaches, which help accelerate their careers.

GE already has strong partnerships with several educational organisations in the region and offers internship agreements and Co-op programs. “We are working with renowned universities to offer specialised workshops and seminars for students covering various aspects of jobs within GE,” said Habayeb.

Reaffirming its commitment towards the Middle East region, GE recently partnered with American University of Sharjah (AUS) delivering student presentations and seminars on various topics as well as offering summer internships. This initiative takes the concept of ‘growth leader’ forward and gives students in the region a platform to obtain an insight into GE’s widely-acclaimed business policies and practices, as well as bridge the gap between University education and work experience.
