The Cultural and Media Centre (CMC) of H.H. Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President’s Representative and Chairman of the CMC, will organize a lecture on the cultural value of Arabic Manuscripts.
The lecture, titled "Arabic Manuscripts: light of Yesterday, Darkness of Today" which is to be held Under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will be delivered by Baba Ould Cheikh Sidiya, Director of "Haroun Ould Cheikh Sidiya Collection of Arabic Manuscripts" in Mauritania. The lecture will be held at the centre’s conference hall in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, 21st October 2009 at 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Baba Ould Cheikh Sidiya will talk about the importance of manuscripts and their role in the nation’s renaissance in the past, and the challenges these historical documents encounter today due to negligence and lack of preservation and revival efforts.
The organization of this lecture comes in consistence with the attention that Sheikh Sultan attaches to the preservation of Arab-Islamic culture, and his keenness to safeguard and activate the Arab heritage in the society.
